Tool lists age badly, so this one is organised by category. The category is the durable part; the specific product will change.
1. A writing partner you actually trust
Not for producing text you would not stand behind, but for arguing with your draft, tightening structure and catching what you left unexplained.
2. A coding assistant inside your editor
The productivity difference is largest on unfamiliar code and boilerplate, smallest on the architecture decisions that matter most.
3. Document analysis
Long contracts, specifications and reports. Ask for the obligations, the dates and the exceptions rather than a summary.
4. Meeting capture
Decisions and owners, not transcripts. A transcript nobody reads is not documentation.
5. A research agent
Useful when the task is genuinely multi-step search. Verify every source it cites.
