Today I woke up to the sound of rain. It was not a loud, angry rain, but a soft, steady patter on the roof and the window. At first, I lay in bed for a few minutes just listening. The sound was gentle and peaceful, like the sky was whispering a lullaby. Slowly, I got up and pulled the curtain aside. The whole world outside looked fresh and grey. The trees were swaying softly, the road was wet, and small raindrops were sliding down the glass one by one. Everything felt calm and clean.
The air smelled different after the rain began. It had that special earthy smell, like dry soil drinking water for the first time. I took a deep breath and felt cool air enter my lungs. The wind carried the scent of wet leaves and mud, and it felt fresh against my face. The balcony plants looked happier too. Their leaves were shining, and little drops of water sat on them like tiny diamonds. Nature seems to smile when it rains, and today I smiled with it.
I watched the rain from my window for a long time. Some people walked past with colourful umbrellas. A few cars drove slowly, splashing water on the sides of the road. A small bird sat on a nearby branch, shaking water from its feathers. Even the ordinary things looked beautiful in the rain. The grey sky, the wet roads, the green trees — they all came together like a quiet painting. Rain has a way of making the world look fresh, as if someone washed everything gently during the night.
My mother made hot tea in the afternoon, and I sat by the window with my cup. The tea was warm and sweet, and each sip made me feel cozy inside. I wrapped myself in a soft blanket and watched the rain fall harder for a little while. The drops raced down the windowpane, and I found myself trying to guess which one would reach the bottom first. It was a small, silly game, but it made me happy. Sometimes the best moments are the simple ones.
Later, I stepped outside for a short walk. The ground was covered in small puddles, and I had to be careful not to get my shoes too wet. I saw a few children laughing and jumping in a puddle near the gate. Their faces were full of joy, and they did not care about getting wet at all. I remembered doing the same thing when I was small. Rain used to feel like an adventure then. Today, it felt like that again, even if I only walked slowly and looked around.
As the evening came, the rain became softer and finally stopped. The sky was still cloudy, but the air felt clean and new. Water dripped slowly from the leaves, and the roads looked shiny under the streetlights. I felt grateful for this rainy day. It did not ask me to do anything special. It just gave me peace, a warm cup of tea, and a chance to slow down. Rain reminds me that it is okay to pause and simply enjoy the world as it is. Today, I did exactly that, and my heart feels light.
